Pokémon GO City Safari is coming to Mexico City, Mexico!

Pokémon GO City Safari is coming to Mexico City, Mexico on November 4 and 5, 2023! Set off on a new city-wide adventure as you discover the vibrant stories, new friends, and exciting Pokémon waiting for you in Mexico City!

Whether you’re a resident of Mexico City or a first-time visitor, your Pokémon GO City Safari will take you across the city in an all-new way—from historic landmarks to local favorites, get ready for a taste of the city with Pokémon GO by your side!

Trainers can either purchase a ticket for one day of the two-day event or a one-day ticket with an additional second day add-on. One-day tickets are MX$150 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency, including applicable taxes) and are available for purchase on the Pokémon GO City Safari website. You will see “Tickets Available” next to the Pokémon GO City Safari: Mexico City event ticket if it hasn’t sold out yet. Event gameplay will be available only at the date, time, and location specified on your ticket. Ticketed gameplay on November 5, 2023, will be extended and include a three hour intermission from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time for Trainers to enjoy November Community Day.

Note: Tickets to this event are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Tickets are first come, first served and are available for purchase while supplies last.

The adventures continue with the all-new Safari Ticket!

After City Safari: Mexico City, you can enhance a future visit to the city with a Safari Ticket!

While in Mexico City, Trainers can purchase a Safari Ticket from the in-game shop and enjoy a short Special Research experience based on the event-exclusive gameplay featured during City Safari: Mexico City. Visit Eevee Explorers locations around the city to earn encounters with featured Pokémon. Who knows what exciting Pokémon will join your journey?

Safari Ticket: Mexico City will be available for purchase in the in-game shop for US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency, plus any applicable taxes and fees) starting Monday, November 6, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. local time, and will remain available for purchase for at least one year. Tickets cannot be purchased with PokéCoins. Tickets are nonrefundable (subject to applicable law and the exceptions set forth in the Terms of Service). Please note that the City Safari event-exclusive Eevee wearing an explorer hat will not be included as an encounter in this Special Research.

Say “¡Hola!” to Mexico City in a citywide adventure!

Find a whole city of adventure waiting for you when you embark on a Pokémon GO City Safari! Encounter themed wild Pokémon throughout the entire city, complete City Safari-exclusive Special Research, and explore the rich culture in and around Mexico City!

There’s no right or wrong way to enjoy a City Safari! This brand-new open format allows Trainers to enjoy the city-wide experiences at their own pace, catching Pokémon and making friends with other Trainers along the way.

Help Professor Willow research Pokémon across Mexico City!

Ticket-holding Trainers can gear up to assist Professor Willow and Eevee in learning more about the Pokémon appearing during the event. And Eevee seems ready for a big adventure—Trainers will encounter Eevee wearing an explorer hat at the beginning of the City Safari Special Research!

We encourage Trainers to travel and explore the city with their new Eevee as a buddy. This event-exclusive Eevee can be evolved into any of Eevee’s known Evolutions, so Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, or Sylveon wearing an explorer hat can join the fun!

Embark on an Eevee Explorers Expedition!

Don’t know where to start your adventure? With an entire city to explore, the Eevee Explorers Timed Research experience can help you set off on an exciting tour of notable locations, landmarks, and even some local favorite spots!

Visit locations across the city to complete this event-exclusive Timed Research, which awards an additional encounter with Eevee wearing an explorer hat at each location you visit!*

*Ticket holders can receive up to eight encounters with Eevee wearing an explorer hat as a part of the Eevee Explorers Timed Research in addition to the Eevee wearing an explorer hat received as a part of the event Special Research. Trainers who purchase the second day add-on can complete the Timed Research a second time for an additional eight encounters with Eevee wearing an explorer hat.

Lure Modules (excluding Golden Lures) activated during the event will last for four hours.

Giant Skull Display

The giant skull celebrating Día de Muertos is back this year! Come by Paseo de la Reforma, near the iconic Ángel de la Independencia monument, for the Mexicráneos giant skull exhibit and take a picture with our giant skull full of Pokémon GO details. Try taking over the in-game Gym there—you can watch the LED lights on the skull change to match your team’s color at night!

Enjoy Mexico City’s green parks

Mexico City’s monumental parks, scattered all across the city, are among its most iconic landmarks. Some of them will feature physical PokéStops as well as special information tents where you will be able to charge your phone and get your hands on Pikachu and Duskull visors!*

Also, ticketed gameplay on November 5 will include a three-hour intermission from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time for Trainers to enjoy Community Day, providing a great opportunity to join our Community Ambassadors at select parks and participate in their meetups!

*There will be a limited number of visors distributed at each location on a first-come, first-served basis.

7-Eleven Store takeovers

In collaboration with our Sponsored Locations Partner, 7-Eleven Mexico, we’ll be hosting special activities at five stores in key areas of Mexico City. Discover Mexico City by following official in-game Routes

In collaboration with Alcaldía Miguel Hidalgo, Secretaría de Turismo de Ciudad de México, Bosque de Chapultepec, and Complejo Cultural Los Pinos, we’ve curated a selection of official in-game Routes to enjoy Mexico City’s tourist attractions.

Additionally, on Sunday, November 5, Avenida Presidente Masaryk in Polanco will be closed to car transit for its weekly “Muévete en Bici” initiative. This lets people in Mexico City walk, bike, and exercise along this beautiful avenue every Sunday morning. It’s a great spot to enjoy your Pokémon GO City Safari—and don’t forget your camera!

Photo opportunities

There will be photo opportunities with Pokémon GO City Safari: Mexico City’s featured Pokémon at various bus stops and other spots across Mexico City. Be on the lookout for them as you explore!

Additionally, look for special billboards placed in select Red, Yellow, and Blue Line metro stations featuring the Pokémon GO Team Leaders.

Evolve your gameplay with ticket add-ons

In addition to our live events, we’re offering Trainers the chance to enhance their event experience with optional add-ons. Ticket add-ons are active for both days of Pokémon GO City Safari: Mexico City—Saturday and Sunday. Trainers with the ticket add-ons will be able to take advantage of the bonuses even on the day that they aren’t taking part in ticketed gameplay.

Enjoy two days of adventure in Mexico City! After selecting either a Saturday or Sunday ticket, Trainers can purchase an add-on for the other day to make the most of their time.

  5. On the following page, all upcoming live events will be listed, with the soonest event at the top.
  6. You’ll see the label “Tickets Available!” next to a first-come first-served event if it hasn’t sold out yet. Tap the event to select the date and time you wish to attend, purchase tickets for friends (see the “Gift a ticket to a friend!” section), and input your payment information to complete your purchase. On the payment confirmation page, please note your order ID. You’ll also receive a confirmation email at the address you entered before payment.

Gift a ticket to a friend!

If you would like to purchase a ticket for one of your friends, you’ll need their username. While purchasing, there are boxes that you can fill in with the usernames of the friends that you would like to buy tickets for—one name per box.

  • Tap “Add.” Make sure that the spelling of all usernames is correct.
  • Your gift will be on its way!

Note: You must be at least Great Friends with the Trainer you wish to give a ticket to. You must also assign the entire quantity of tickets that you selected to eligible friends before you can proceed to payment. You can only purchase tickets for one date and time per order, so all friends will receive tickets for the same date and time.

Where can I park my car?

There will be no designated parking area for this event. We recommend using public transportation.

How do I access the special in-person locations?

There will be special in-person activities, such as photo opportunities, a special Día de Muertos Giant Skull exhibit in Paseo de la Reforma, and many more. Please visit the Pokémon GO City Safari: Mexico City website for more details.

Are there restrooms available?

Public restrooms are available throughout Mexico City.

Can I participate in Pokémon GO City Safari: Mexico City from anywhere if I have a live event ticket?

In order to enjoy event gameplay during Pokémon GO City Safari: Mexico City, you must be physically present in Mexico City.

How do I start playing after arriving in Mexico City?

Simply open the Pokémon GO app in Mexico City on the date and time stated on your event ticket. Trainers who do not have a ticket will not have access to the event-exclusive content, even if they are physically present in Mexico City.

Will there be a special map available to follow the exclusive content for Pokémon GO City Safari: Mexico City?

We highly recommend you download the Niantic Campfire app. This year, ticket holders will have access to a digital interactive event map via Campfire!

Trainers will not be able to participate in the event outside Mexico City, even if they purchase a ticket.

Trainers with child accounts can attend events when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Their parent or guardian must purchase a ticket for themselves and for any children attending this event. Trainers can purchase drinks in the city from vending machines, convenience stores, etc.

Smoking (including but not limited to e-cigarettes and tobacco products) anywhere outside of designated areas is prohibited. Please use designated smoking areas when smoking.

Battery charging

We recommend bringing a fully charged portable power bank to ensure uninterrupted gameplay. There will be physical PokéStop power banks at select locations where you can relax and charge your phone.

Inclement weather

The event will take place rain or shine. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. No refunds will be given due to inclement weather. In the case of extreme weather, directions to the nearest shelters will be communicated to attendees.
