The first Pokémon GO City Spotlight finishes up! City competition winner announced.

Our first-ever Pokémon GO City Spotlight has wrapped! We hope Trainers in participating cities enjoyed their time exploring with their Buddy Pokémon and discovering new locations while remaining socially distant. We also hope Trainers took the opportunity to support local businesses.
Thousands of Trainers in Auckland, New Zealand; Busan, South Korea; and Tainan, Taiwan participated in City Spotlight. Here’s a peek at what they were able to do in just eight hours.
- Trainers caught nearly 3.58 million Pokémon.
- Trainers completed over 415,000 Timed Research tasks.
- Trainers took over 792,000 snapshots while completing the Timed Research tasks.
- Trainers completed over 34,000 AR Mapping tasks.
- Trainers earned 669,000 hearts with their Buddy Pokémon.
- Trainers each walked nearly 11 kilometers on average.

Trainers did a great job completing AR Mapping tasks in their cities. The scans created during these tasks will help us introduce exciting, new features in the future, and we’re grateful for the continued support in our work to create cutting-edge experiences in Pokémon GO.
The city-versus-city AR Mapping competition was exhilarating. We’re excited to announce that Trainers in Tainan, Taiwan won the competition and earned the bonus event! Congratulations! From Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, November 29, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. local time, Trainers in Tainan, Taiwan will benefit from a one-quarter Hatch Distance bonus.
